Tuesday: 3 (stroller) miles, Zumba
Wednesday: 4 miles
Friday: 3 miles
Saturday: 13 miles (!!!)
Total: 28 miles
After much hemming and hawing, I decided to bite the bullet and register for the 13 mile distance for tomorrow’s race! Three things ultimately convinced me. One of my running buddies pointed out that I was planning to do a 10 mile long run this weekend anyway–so why not just do it at the race (plus a few extra miles…). When I presented the choices to my husband last night, he was surprised I would even consider not running the 13 miles. I love that he has so much faith in my abilities. Finally, I am running a marathon in September, and I need to mentally warm up to longer distances. While I have not been completing 10+ mile long runs of late, I feel very strong in my running practice and I trust my body has the strength to perform tomorrow.
Last night I made sure to wash all of my best clothing for distance, particularly my best socks (Thorlo, though I am in the midst of looking at other socks for when I embark on regular and progressively longer runs).
I am doing my regular Friday buddy run this evening, but the shorter version (I’ll drive to the meeting place instead of running there from my house and then running home). It is balmy and drizzly out–I hope tomorrow is not a complete downpour!!
